Developer and contact
Skyhorse Studio develops Crabble. For privacy questions or support, email contatochinesja@gmail.com.
Accounts and learning progress
The website uses an email and password account. On Android, creating an account is optional. If you register, we process your email, a password hash, verification codes, session credentials and learning progress (completed lessons, current position, answer totals, XP, energy and daily streaks) to provide sign-in, recovery and synchronisation between the website and app. Passwords travel over HTTPS and are stored only as salted hashes, never as readable passwords. We do not record your voice, individual written answers or audio playback.
Offline use and device storage
Android lessons and included recordings work offline. Progress is stored in the app’s private storage. If signed in, changes wait on the device when a connection fails and are retried automatically. Account caches are kept separately from guest progress and other accounts. Signing out requires synchronising pending progress; it preserves that account’s device cache for a later sign-in. Browser progress is stored in local storage, and the web session uses a secure HttpOnly cookie. Android stores the session credential using SecureStore. Android cloud backup for app data is disabled.
Service providers and security records
Our website and account database are hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. Resend delivers verification, password recovery and account deletion emails using Crabble <access@openclassiccinema.com>. These providers process the data necessary to operate their services, potentially outside your country. Crabble accounts are separate from Open Classic Cinema accounts. We use short-lived, hashed email/IP rate-limit records to reduce abuse; hosting and email providers may also process technical logs under their policies. We do not sell personal information, use advertising or analytics SDKs, or send automatic app crash reports.
Audio and permissions
Available pronunciation and lesson recordings and sound effects are included in Android packages with encrypted storage and offline playback. The app requests Internet/network access for accounts and progress synchronisation. It does not request microphone, contacts, location, photo-library or shared-storage access. Website recordings require an Internet connection.
Retention and account deletion
Cloud account data and progress remain until you delete your account. In the app, open My account → Delete account and progress; confirm using the code sent to your email. You can also begin deletion without the app at https://shanghainese-duo.rafapapa.chatgpt.site/delete-account. Confirmation deletes the active account, password hash, cloud progress and sync records and invalidates all sessions. This device’s account cache is removed; clear app/browser storage on other offline devices to remove their cached copies. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes and sessions after 30 days; expired operational records are removed during account activity. Providers may retain limited technical records according to their retention policies. Contact support if you cannot access your email or need help with a deletion request.
Guest data, external links and support
Guest progress is available only on the device and is removed when you clear app storage or uninstall. You may choose to include guest progress when signing in. Optional links in About open other apps or websites under their policies. If you email support, we receive the email and information you choose to send and use them to handle your request. You may request deletion of support correspondence at contatochinesja@gmail.com, except where retention is legally required.
Children and policy changes
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age at which parental consent is required. A parent or guardian can contact us to request help or deletion. Offline Android learning does not require an email account. We will update this policy when our data practices change.
